Hey everyone — I’m Ricky Cedillo, a local realtor here in Albany, Oregon. My wife Shea and I have been lucky enough to call this place home for the past 5 years while raising our three kiddos — Ari (7), Titan (5), and Kai (4).

Which means one thing…
๐Ÿ‘‰ I’ve spent the last 5 years figuring out how to keep kids entertained, burn energy, and still keep my sanity intact.

So if you’ve got young kids and you’re wondering “what do we even do today?” — I got you.

Here are my Top 5 Family-Friendly Things to Do in Albany, Oregon, ranked from “solid option” to “this might save your weekend.”

#5 – Albany Historic Carousel

Let’s start with a classic.

The Albany Historic Carousel is one of those places that just feels wholesome. Hand-carved animals, bright colors, and just enough excitement to make your kids feel like they just went to Disneyland… without the 6-hour wait time and second mortgage.

Why it makes the list:
This is your go-to when the kids are bouncing off the walls and you need a quick escape. It’s not an all-day thing — but that’s actually the beauty of it. You can swing by, ride a few times, and be back home before anyone melts down.

Dad Tip: Perfect for those “we need to leave the house NOW” moments.

Hours (typically):

  • Wed–Sun: 11 AM – 5 PM
  • Closed Mon & Tues

Cost: Super affordable (like, “don’t even think twice” affordable)

#4 – Lakeshore Lanes Bowling & Mini Golf

Welcome to Oregon… where you plan for rain year-round.

That’s why Lakeshore Lanes is clutch.

Why it makes the list:
You get two experiences in one:

  • ๐ŸŒง Rainy day? Go bowl
  • โ˜€๏ธ Sunny day? Mini golf time

And let me tell you — watching your kid almost get a hole-in-one and then celebrate like they just won The Masters? Worth it.

Dad Tip: Bowling with bumpers = confidence boost of the century.

Hours (typical):

  • Daily: ~10 AM – 10 PM (later on weekends)

Bonus: Snack bar = survival fuel for parents

#3 – Coin Jam Jr.

Ah yes… the place where your quarters go to disappear.

Coin Jam Jr. is an arcade built for both kids and adults who still think they’ve “got it” on old-school games.

Why it makes the list:
This is for the kids who:

  • Need constant stimulation
  • Have the attention span of… well… my kids
  • Love pressing buttons and winning tickets

And bonus:
Adults can grab a drink (beer, wine, cider), while kids get snacks and juice.

Dad Reality Check:
You will say “last game” at least 6 times.

Hours (typical):

  • Mon–Thu: 12 PM – 9 PM
  • Fri–Sat: 12 PM – 10 PM
  • Sun: 12 PM – 8 PM

#2 – Jump City

If your kids have energy… this is where the kids let it all out.

Jump City is basically a giant inflatable paradise.

Why it makes the list:
This is less about activities and more about parent survival.

You walk in…
Kids run wild…
You sit down and have an actual adult conversation.

It’s magical.

Dad Tip: This is prime “playdate location.” Bring another family and you just bought yourself an hour of peace.

Hours (typical):

  • Open play hours vary (often afternoons + weekends)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Check ahead — they do private parties

#1 – Splatter Box (THE GOAT ๐Ÿ)

Alright… hear me out.

Splatter Box is not just an activity… it’s an experience.

Why it’s #1:
Because it taps into something every kid dreams about:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Making a massive mess…
๐Ÿ‘‰ And NOT getting in trouble for it

Paint everywhere. Laughter everywhere. Zero rules (well… mostly).

It’s chaotic. It’s messy. It’s unforgettable.

And honestly? That’s what makes it special.

Dad Tip (VERY IMPORTANT):

  • Wear clothes you do NOT care about
  • Bring towels you do NOT care about
  • Protect your car like you're transporting wet cement

Hours (typical):

  • Varies by booking — often appointment-based

Best for: Birthdays, special outings, core memory creation
